The Institute for Engineering Research and Applications (IERA) is teaming with Trinitek Services Inc (3TKS). to offer specialized radiation safety training to national and international users of radiation sources/devices. IERA is part of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, also known as New Mexico Tech (NMT), which is an institute of higher learning that integrates education, research, public service, training, and economic development through emphasis on science, engineering, and natural resources. Trinitek is a minority-owned small business founded in Albuquerque in 1999. The company is a leading international consulting firm that specializes in nuclear and atomic regulations, hazard mitigation, environmental protection, radiation safety and waste management.
Trainees will receive specialized hands-on comprehensive training to deal safely with radioactive materials used in medicine, welding and other industrial uses. The program will also include detailed course work on handling, transportation and disposal. Potential university credit hours are available for some courses. The Training Catalog includes description of the training program and all the training courses.
NMT owns an operate the Playas Training and Research Center (PTRC) that provides the opportunity for conducting real-time simulation drills for nuclear incidents under urban conditions. At the PTRC, trainees will apply their classroom knowledge in real-time drills that simulate various scenarios for handling radioactive sources. Some courses offer hands-on experience in responding to unexpected radiological incidents. Click on the video link to watch footages of our training drills in Playas.
